ANARCHY  &  THE TRANSATLANTIC

This won't be our first Atlantic crossing as previously we have chosen to 

do the WCC ARC Race.

This will be our first RORC Transatlantic. 

Whats the difference between them?

Well the ARC across the Atlantic is geared up for the cruising sailor although it does have a racing division. The RORC Transatlantic race however attracts those who genuinely want to race a cross.

With the RORC moving the start date from November to January the race will pick up more consistent Tradewinds and allow us the opportunity for a longer stopover in the Canaries for yacht preparation. Including a lift scrub and re-antifoul at a lower cost than we would pay in the Caribbean.

An Atlantic crossing does seem quite daunting but the reality is its an easy passage. Down hill pretty much all the way, in fact we didn't beat once on the last passage with only a broad reach as we approached the finish line.

You will get tired and the watch system will leave you with sleep deprivation, which means that you will get a bit moody at some point but we all do and we all get over it. 

The reward however is an immense sense of achievement, you can't really explain it. You just cant stop grinning for days, weeks.

As you would expect from an offshore event organised by the RORC safety standards are high which means we issue each crew member with a personal  AIS MOB Beacon, onboard satellite communications onto of the statutory safety kit already onboard.

Crew will be required to have completed 500Nm of offshore racing or an equivalent passage.

This we can provide by you either joining us in the UK for some RORC racing this summer,  or participate in our Raid from Gibraltar to  Lanzarote in November. All including within our cost.

NOTE: 2021 yacht entries are double that of the last event in 2019 and that's with Covid 19. Looks like the date change is a winner.
